About the Author
Walter James, MD, is a retired physician and sleep medicine specialist whose career has been devoted to studying, treating, and explaining one of medicine's greatest mysteries--sleep.
In 1993, he founded The Sleep Center at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta and served as its Director for more than three decades. During that time, he cared for thousands of patients with sleep disorders while helping them overcome the conditions that disrupted their sleep.
Throughout his career, Dr. James discovered that many people were fascinated by sleep but found the science difficult to understand. Dreaming of Answers was written to bridge that gap by translating complex research into engaging, accessible language for the general reader. It reflects his belief that the remarkable science of sleep should be understandable to everyone, not just physicians and scientists.
Now retired from clinical practice, Dr. James enjoys speaking to bookstores, libraries, retirement communities, book clubs, and community organizations about the science of sleep, dreaming, and healthy sleep.
